About Us

We are a Committee run non-profit Members Club located in Weaverham.

We are Disability friendly and have an onsite Defibrillator.

We are the headquarters of the BCGBA with two award winning greens.

We have a 3 rooms to hire which can cater for any number of events.

We have 4 full size snooker tables, 3 pool tables and 4 dart boards.

History of the Club

The Owley Wood estate was built in the 1920s for housing for the ICI workers. The photo above shows the location of Owley Wood Recreation Club when the estate was being built and it was used as the main building yard for the estate.

Owley Wood Recreation Club opened its doors in 1922 and has been serving the community for over 100 years.  The original building was a Managers Club where women were not allowed.  It has been extended over the years adding a Lounge, Snooker Room, Games Room and large Concert Room which provides entertainment for many occasions.  Oh, and women are now allowed in...
